Selection Criteria

Qualification is based on a point scoring system with a total of 60 points was adopted. The breakdown of the scoring system is as below

Academic requirements (15 points)

Applicants will be scored on the basis of their achievement in 5 subjects including English and Mathematics. The score will be

  • 2 points for each credit grade or equivalent
  • 3 points for each distinction grade or equivalent

Applicants must score minimum of 10 points in this section to be considered for award. Photocopies of credentials must be submitted with application

Financial Ability/Parent occupation (15 points)

    Applicants attending private secondary school and private institutions should be disqualified as the application form instructed such student not to apply

  • Family or Parent Occupation: Any occupation declared by the applicant shall be evaluated by zonal coordinator for the income categories or prevailing estimate listed in the next step
  • Family income/month
    • Category A: 5 points(Family income > N60,000.00
    • Category B: 10 points(Family income > N30,000.00 to N60,000.00
    • Category C: 15 points(Family income < N30,000.00
  • Number of Children below 18yrs in family

Applicant must score a minimum of 10 points in this section to be considered for award

Islamic Community Activities (15 points) with verification of letter of support.

  • Membership in a recognized Muslim Youth Organization - 9 points
  • Leadership position in a recognized Muslim Youth Organization - add 3 points
  • Evidence of active participation in organizing Muslim Community activities - add 3 points

Applicants must score a minimum of 9 points in this section to be considered for the award. Supporting letters from recognized Muslim Community leader and/or association may be required

Interview Result (15 points)

Interview may be conducted via phone after matching applicant picture submitted with application with that on video during interview. Points in this section will be awarded based on personal evaluation by an interview panel consisting of at least 2 MSFN members or Muslim community leaders nominated by the MSFN Board of Trustees to do so. The awarded points will be the average of the points given by each member in the panel. Amir letter and recommendation should be given high rating during evaluation.

Shortlisting Criteria

Applicant must be Muslim

  • Applicant must come from a state presently covered by MSFN
    (Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, Edo, Kwara and Kogi states) 
  • For SSS students, applicant must have a Minimum of C4 in both Math and English 
  • For tertiary students, applicant must have a Minimum GPA of 3.50 out of 5.00 or 5.00 out of 7.00
  • For diploma and college of education students, applicant must have a Minimum GPA of 3.00 out of 4.00
